When the venue wifi goes

What keeps working, what needs authority, and what happens when two devices disagree.

Keep going

Results, corrections, check-ins, drops, walk-ins, penalties and confirmations all work with no connection. They queue on the device and merge when the signal comes back.

Pairing, the clock and cutting need authority — one device holds it, online or off. That is what stops two devices pairing two different round fives.

More than one device

Every device in the room can be working at once, offline, and they reconcile without anybody choosing. You will not be asked whether to keep or throw away the last forty minutes of work, because the order the commands were issued in is recorded with them.

Two independent reports of different outcomes still stop for a judge. That is a disagreement about what happened at a table, not a technical conflict, and no merge rule should decide it.

The published rule

What merges, what needs authority, and what happens on reconnect is written down per action rather than described in general terms. See the offline contract.
